Background to Agri TrainingLand Based Training provide career paths in Agriculture through education by providing various levels of qualifications (National Certificates) from entry level to Diploma. Our training is targeted and is suitable initially for people entering the agriculture industry with either no previous experience, or limited industry specific skills to those people who work largely unsupervised in the agriculture industry. We can also develop training programs that recognise the skills and knowledge that people may already have gained through industry experience or for people who are moving into the agriculture industry from a different industry, who will work unsupervised but who may not necessarily have had a background of agriculture skills. Courses start by focusing on basic skills acquisition in farming situations involving the use of tractors, motorcycles, Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV) and All Terrain Vehicles (ATV); handling and treatment of livestock; and electric and non-electric fence components. An important aspect of basic skills acquisition is gaining knowledge of the associated safety requirements applicable to all farming situations. The outcomes of unit standards in this qualification cover those safety requirements. Our more advance training programs are designed to meet the needs of the various agricultural sectors – arable farming, cattle farming, dairy farming, deer farming, and sheep farming. Programs include imparting skills and knowledge that is required for specific farming sectors including: elements and fertilisers; soils and taking a soil test; the completion of a farm reports and general skills and knowledge related to the students own farming situation. The Diploma qualification provides the technical and managerial knowledge and skills required by people who are currently in, or wish to undertake a managerial role in, an agribusiness. It builds on the knowledge and skills recognised by the National Certificate in Agriculture with strands in Production Management, Business Planning, Physical Resource Management, Taxation and Risk Management, Capital Management, and Financial Planning, although that qualification is not a prerequisite. People awarded this qualification are able to develop a business plan, manage risk and capital, identify and manage data, establish policy, and develop and monitor a financial plan for an agribusiness. They have demonstrated knowledge of taxation, physical resources and financial planning, investment and performance analysis, ownership, tenure, and estate planning, the effects of market forces, and legal requirements for an agribusiness Training and Support StaffLand
