Training for the future

With greater emphasis on qualifications being required from Local and Regional Councils, Transit NZ, ACC, OSH, Territorial Authorities, Power Suppliers and other Principals the requirement to show that employees are trained for the work they do is becoming a necessity in today’s competitive environment. Meeting the Industry Standards and being able to gain external training, assessment and qualifications all contribute to a company’s marketability and attributes.

Land Based Training Limited is Nationally Accredited to teach Qualification Authority unit standards in: Civil Works and Services, Civil Plant Operation and Maintenance, Highway Construction and Maintenance (all to level 3) and we also have Transit registered tutors and provide temporary traffic control unit standards (level 5). We provide TEC New Zealand General Work Based Training courses in Palmerston North and Wanganui where our students work with various Contracting Company's four days a week and they spend one day undergoing formal training. The construction training wing also run STAR courses in a number of secondary schools.

WORKPLACE ASSESSORS

Land Based Training can provide you and your employees with a range of training and assessment services. All out tutors are registered NZCITO assessors and can travel to your site to assess your team on most Unit Standards and National Certificates. TRAINING COURSES AND NATIONAL CERTIFICATES

Land Based Training is accredited to provide training in the Sub-Fields of Agriculture (level 5), Civil Works and Services (level 3), Civil Plant Operation and Maintenance (level 3), Highway Construction and Maintenance (Level 3) and Occupational Health and Safety (level 4) on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework. This means we can can develop specific courses using the unit standards within these Sub Fields or follow the existing National Certificates that are contained within these Sub Fields. LBT is Accredited to provide the following Qualifications:

	National Certificate – Civil Construction Works (Introductory Skills)
	National Certificate – Civil Works and Services (Road Opening - Trenching)
	National Certificate – Civil Works and Services (Road Opening - Site Co-ordination)
	National Certificate – Road Construction (level 3)
	National Certificate – Roading Maintenance (level 3)
	National Certificate – in Roadmarking (Assistant)
	National Certificate – in Roadmarking (Skilled Operator)
	National Certificate – Civil Plant Operation (Forestry Earthworks)
	National Certificate – Civil Plant Operation and Maintenance (Skilled & Multi Skilled)

Land Based Training will provide specific training programmes on covering any number of unit standards on a "on demand" basis. All our tutors / assessors are mobile and we can develop courses for you or your company and will incorporate your documentation, processes and equipment so that the students will be as familiar with the workplace as possible.  

We also provide specific units standard related courses e.g. 6454 - Demonstrate knowledge of safety principles and maintain safety on civil construction worksites. This unit is ensures a thorough understanding of legal requirements of safety programmes and the methods of instigating, achieving and maintaining health and safety requirements on site. 

We also provide cross qualifications where possible by matching Unit Standards with other industry requirements. A prime example is the Transit "Working on the Roads Course" which our training/assessment team have aligned to the compulsory unit standard 5627.
