LAND BASED TRAINING COURSE the
NATIONAL DIPOLMA in AGRI-BUSINESS MANAGEMENT |
This qualification recognises the
technical and managerial knowledge and skills required by people who are currently in, or
wish to undertake a managerial role in, an agribusiness. It builds on the knowledge and
skills recognised by the National Certificate in Agriculture with strands in Production
Management, Business Planning, Physical Resource Management, Taxation and Risk Management,
Capital Management, and Financial Planning, although that qualification is not a
prerequisite.
People awarded this qualification are able to develop a business plan, manage risk and
capital, identify and manage data, establish policy, and develop and monitor a financial
plan for an agribusiness. They have demonstrated knowledge of taxation, physical resources
and financial planning, investment and performance analysis, ownership, tenure, and estate
planning, the effects of market forces, and legal requirements for an agribusiness.
The intention of the elective section is to allow individuals to gain credit for the
production management unit standards relating to their agribusiness. In the agricultural
sector Unit 11849, Develop, implement and monitor an agricultural
management action plan to achieve production targets, Unit 11850,
Identify and analyse advanced farming production systems, and Unit 11851,
Prepare implement and monitor a feed budget to meet target production levels, are
options that would meet the intent of this section though further credits would be
required. It is strongly recommended that people consider the inclusion of the unit
standards relating to safety in a farming situation, particularly Unit
11852, Identify farm hazards, develop a plan to eliminate, isolate or
minimise, and record hazards, although this unit standard is not compulsory.
