NATIONAL CERTIFICATE IN AGRICULTURE
LEVEL 2 ~ SHEEP / BEEF or DAIRY

This is an entry level qualification ideal for people considering a career in agriculture or those who wish to gain sufficient knowledge of a wide range of skills to assist them to gain employment in the land based industries.

It has been designed to allow parts of the qualification to be achieved at secondary school or in an off-job learning situation as well as allow students to gain the practical aspects in an on-job situation.

The methods of diversifying by selecting a range of unit standards over several key areas (industry strands) enables this qualification to also be credited towards the National Certificate in Agriculture (Level 4). It is also possible to specialise in either the theory or practical unit standards if you wish to follow a specific industry path.   The qualification is flexible with a level of portability, not only into the Level 4 agriculture qualifications, but across other sectors of the  land-based primary industries.

Aspects of this course require some practical unit standards involving operating a variety of farm vehicles and equipment including chainsaws and ATV's as well as first aid, injury prevention and safety in the workplace.
