This qualification is
designed to provide recognition for the knowledge and skills required for
developing and implementing policies and procedures for safe practice and injury
prevention in the construction environment.
The compulsory unit
standards within this qualification recognise the underlying knowledge and
skills required in order to plan, implement, review, and manage injury and
hazard prevention practices in the construction industry.
The strands provide recognition for the specific theoretical and
practical skills required by people working in industrial health and safety and
supervisory roles in the industry.
The strand in On Site Management is comprised of all of the unit standards present in the On Site Theory and On Site Practical strands, and is designed for those wishing to work in a management role in the construction industry.
Due to the health and safety requirements of the sites in which these trade skills are applied, people that wish to undertake this qualification must demonstrate the capacity to understand any and all requirements, instructions, and communications (oral, written, and graphic), to the required industry level. This might be evidenced by Sixth Form Certificate English, credits from the Communications Skills sub-field at level 2 or above, or the demonstration of equivalent knowledge and skills. Our tutor (Jeremy Palmer) can mentor the trainee to ensure that these attributes can be achieved if required.
Assessment of recognition
of prior learning will be conducted by a registered workplace assessor appointed
by the Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation. Jeremy
Palmer who has this qualification full this role for many of our trainees, or
you can use someone from your own workplace with this qualification.
