LBTWork2Day:

The Work2Day programme will give you the opportunity to sharpen your job search skills and enchance your existing experience with a one to one employment coach and work placements. Whether it be retail, call centre, housekeeping, cleaning, administration, customer service, hospitality or shelf staking, the list is endless. If you are over 18 yrs and registered with Work & Income, join a 13 week programme that is 'face paced' with one day in a classroom and up to 4 days in work placement. You must be prepared to commit to intensive supported job searching and be proactive and eager to gain any type of employment.

You will get help with interview skills, ensuring CV is appropriate and worth reading, how to research a job, networking, starting work in a new work place, health & safety at work, career options, employment contracts, literacy and numeracy assistance, writing cover letters, dealing with conflict, solving problems, building confidence to make that first approach and how to cope with a new job.

The Programme

The 13 week Work2Day programme has three key components:

• Life skills
• Employment skills
• Work skills

1. Life Skills
   This component deals with attendance, punctuality, respect, honesty and a positive attitude.
2. Employment skills
   This component deals with the skills you need to get a job:
   • CV development
   • Interviews – presentation, role play
   • Job searching
   • Work place health & safety
   • Customer service
   • Starting work in a new work place
   • Presentation in the Work place


NZQA unit standards may form part of the employment skills modules of learning.

3. Work Skills
   This component deals with the skills of the specific work place
   
   and may include:
   • Work based experience
   • Project work relating to the industry
   • Learning modules specific to the industry – these may be Unit Standard based and have theory, classroom and practical components.

Work2Day programmes are designed for adults 18+, on the unemployment benefit. Clients are referred to the courses by Work & Income personnel.

Wanganui

Work2Day farming – A mixed farm skills course, designed to give participants sufficient skills to enter farming as a career as a Farm Assistant. The course has classroom, project and work experience components.

Work2Day Industry – A course designed for those with a practical nature. The skills developed will help you get employment in a range of employment options including roading, processing, manufacturing, horticulture.

Work2day Retail– Designed to build on your skills to get you into a job in the retail, hospitality, service industries. One day in the classroom, with support from an experience employment coach.

Rangitikei(Marton)

Work2day Industry - A course designed for those with a practical nature. The skills developed will help you get employment in a range of employment options including roading, processing, manufacturing, horticulture.

Palmerston North

Work2day Hospitality – A course designed to prepare you for the work place, and teach you the skills to get a job. Designed to build on your skills to get you into a job in the retail, hospitality, service industries. One day in the classroom, with support from an experience employment coach and tutor.

Work2Day Industry - A course designed for those with a practical nature. The skills developed will help you get employment in a range of employment options including roading, processing, manufacturing, automotive.

Hawkes Bay(Hastings/Waipukurau)

Work2dayIndustry - A course designed to get you into employment, with support from a professional employment coach. Employment opportunities in retail, hospitality, horticulture, and industry.
