Civil Construction, Traffic Management and Building/Construction
Doing a certificate in civil construction will give you opportunity to pick up on new skills in building and construction safety. The course is split between classroom and workshop to give you hands on experience as well as theory. The temporary traffic management course also gives skills to do with the health and safety in a construction site.
Civil Construction
Temporary Traffic Management (TTM):
Land Based Training has developed a Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) course that covers unit standards:
- Unit Standard 20877 Demonstrate knowledge of working safely at sites under temporary traffic;
and - Unit Standard 20878 Assist with temporary traffic management for low volume and level 1 roads
Trainees will gain a working knowledge and understanding of the health and safety issues when working in the civil construction industry including how to conduct themselves safely at any site where temporary traffic management (TTM) is established, how to set up and look after TTM equipment and how to operate as a manual traffic controller (Stop /Go person).
This course starts at 9.00am, trainees will need clothing suitable for work outside for the practical elements.

Building and Construction

This course is designed to assist students to gain a sound foundation knowledge of skills required for the building and construction industry.
The course will be split between classroom, and carpentry facility/workshop.
Students will require their own PPE (personal protective equipment) including steel capped boots.
Construction materials are not included in the price, however some schools have found it beneficial to carry out building projects to benefit the school – such as outdoor tables, and garden boxes.

The certificate in civil construction and temporary traffic management both involve an understanding of building and construction safety.
