Forestry Skills and Safety Courses
In the Wanganui, Taranaki and Manawatu regions Land Based Training are able to offer STAR and Gateway courses in forestry – teaching forestry skills, safety, and fundamental silviculture.

The programme can be provided as a term module ( 7-9 days ) or as a STAR course approx 32 days across the school year.
The school student will be required to provide some essential items i.e. Steel capped boots, “hi viz” vest and wet weather gear – this is a mandatory health and safety requirement.

Chainsaw Safety Course:
To build a forestry skill base for the students, a chainsaw safety course is able to be added to the course. This would normally be added in the latter stages of the course as a 3 day session (see agriculture short course for course details and costs).
STAR and Gateway forestry skills and safety course is only run in Wanganui, Taranaki, and Manawatu. Forestry skills course is just one of the many courses we run.
